Turkey season has started off better than any year I have had before it. Saturday morning couldn't have been any easier to be honest. Got on two birds and they pretty much raced to get to me. I ended up killing the first one to arrive and he was a longbeard for sure with an 11.25 inch beard and 1 1/8 spurs. Sunday and Monday I got on birds but couldn't get them to commit. This morning I went to the piece of property I was on yesterday and heard a gobble way off. Being that I had to be back at work at 5pm and worked all night the night before I decided to go try to find one a little easier to access. This ended up in me killing the biggest bird I have ever killed. I set up on him in some thinned pines in the same location I killed my bird Saturday. I hit the call and had two responses. On bird sounded like a jake but the other had a deep throaty gobble. I worked him for about 20 min and in he came spitting and drumming. I shot him at a touch over 35yards and down he went. This bird had a 10.5 inch main beard and an 8 inch second beard. 1 inch spurs. That leaves me with one tag left and its only the first week. No complaining here though
