Was out first thing yesterday morning for the Maryland opener but didn't see a thing. Heard a single hen first thing in the morning and she was cutting like crazy. So I'm thinking she was probably roosted by herself and was desperate to get back with the flock at daybreak. First time in 3 years I've been out on this property without hearing a gobble. Sucks, but I've got plenty of time left to fill my tags. Heading out Saturday to my other grandfathers property to see what I can get into.

Keep at it Peck.  I didn't go to Ohio.  I will wait till later in the season when it isn't dumping rain.  Hope next monday and tuesday is better here in West Virginia.

The rain has been terrible. Yesterday was beautiful and hopefully you have the same weather next week. GOOD LUCK!!!

Peck,  Keep at it bud,  My season starts tommorrow here in Wisconsin and we  have an inch of snow on ground now with 20-30 mph winds with another inch on the way.  Maybe it will calm down by Friday.  Good luck Scoot

Peck........I am with you bud.  I did not hear a thing yesterday, even a hen.

The lightning ran me out this morning.  It was flashing so bright around me it was blinding.  It did not take me long to get back to the jeep.

That's why I didn't come to Ohio yet.  I figure that later in the season the weather and the gobblers will be better.

Man I hope the weather gets better..........  I am starting to think this is a rain forest around here.

It has been one storm after another for weeks.

Same here. The weather pattern is bound to change sometime, soon hopefully. Keep after 'em when you can.

Keep after'm boys! I know you guys are gonna be putting some down for dirt naps!
Once the weather breaks and some high pressure settles in, my prediction is gobbling is gonna turn on like a light switch!

Thanks for the encouragement guys!!! I'm in aggreement with most of you that all this rain and thunderstorm activity has been keeping the birds quiet. Calling for thunderstorms the rest of the week, including Saturday, but I'll be in the woods Saturday moring regardless.  Hopefully the rain will hold off 'till the afternoon.

Weather here is not good for turkey hunting. A little shower thats bad enough but downpours with high winds It makes for a lousy day. Usually turkeys head to the fields when it rains or it's windy, not this year, just not seeing or hearing any turkeys. You have to be out there, season doesn't last that long.

Keep your powder dry, good luck guy's and check those birds for web feet. :z-guntootsmiley:
Spring turkey hunting, I love it so.                FREEDOM IS NOT FREE
