Decal on slate tone board

Wanting to put a decal on a slate tone board how are you guys getting them to stick  or am I'm better off going glass

The slate does not need to be sealed. I have been using regular elmers glue for over ten years with not a single issue. I spread it out as thin as I can. Then i put my picture on it and press it down with my fingers evenly until it stays flat. I let it sit for several hours before I glue the soundboard in.

3m makes a general adhesive in an erasoal can that you can pick up at any at parts store.  It's what
I use and have been for years.
