Rancher in Stephens and Throckmorton counties in TX said he's had the best hatch in 10 yrs this past spring. They have had good hatches the past several years and turkey numbers are back or better than before the drought. He said one of his ranches has a flock of 100 longbeards that he sees regularly. Its not uncommon to have 15 to 20 longbeards respond early season...mostly subordinate toms. You have to wait for the big toms later in the morning or afternoon when they're through breeding
