I haven't had tv in 10 years n recently again got it. Seen the pursuit channel a few times already and am surprised at what I'm seeing. Last week they were walking on a road ground shooting upland birds. Than they showed a woman being guided by another fellow n pointing the gun at his back on a stalk. This morning a quartering to shot from elevation at a hog.
All irresponsible unsportsmanlike stuff.
Man that channel is embarrassing

There are some "grades" to these channels

You are going to see with this is considered the more "professional" Outdoor Channel Shows
Then you have the Sportsman Channel, just a "pro" step down
and then the rest of these channels will fall below this line with the "less known" shows and staff...

and I have seen some "horrible" stuff coming from a Hunter's Ed Instruction background. You will also learn that these "shows" are just that, not much of what happens in the field is what happens on the show through editing, and taking separate camera angles and b roll and other camera shots taken a number of times. If you're a hunter worth your salt you know what I am talking about. I do film  for one these shows and have been filmed for them and know what we film to what "airs" is part of that edit process.  You will also need to understand that much of these are product endorsements, paid to promote their (Company) products, making a sale and being sponsored. Not that it is all bad, there is a business behind the shows and generate huge $$. Just need to understand that, I hear this so much at the store (I seen them using this XXXX on this show, do you have it?) there was a survey done a while ago on what influences you on making decision on purchasing your Outdoor Gear, these Shows (product endorsements) came in dead last.. the first choice was from people you know and forums like this!

There are a few of these shows I do enjoy watching and others I won't turn on, we all have that choice :)

I understand the money thing. But something very simply as airing a bad shot can cause new folks to figure they can. A friend of mine recently went on a "mentored" hunt. Won't explain too much about it but the mentors repeatedly were trying to teach brand new never shot at any animal hunters where to bow shoot the animal head on, quartering away or Texas heart shots. Now fortunately none of these shots were taken but remember the world wide viral pics taken n posted about deer the last 2 years n running around w arrows in the face, back. Absolutely insane to promote/show any bad type shots.
Look Shannon has a great 40 yard rule. Let's be honest we're turkey hunters. Essence of the sport is calling them up not sniping them at long range.
But he correctly showed conscious n responsibly imo in having his 40 yard rule. Without it some guy would post bout a miracle gun that shoots em dead at 75 yards. Let's be honest in today's age words written, pics posted n videos shown can be shared around the world n bad ones aren't helping our cause.
People will stretch anything n believe maybe I can get lucky like he did.
