gobbler lounger vs vest with kickstand

I asked this as a comment in a thread below about the ALPS vests on discount price but I'm assuming it's getting overlooked based on that threads title.

I currently carry a gobbler lounger and can't complain much about it other than it's one more thing to carry.

For those that have used both, how does a vest such as the ALPS or others, compare in comfort to a gobbler lounger chair?

I got the Cabela's Tactical Tat'r II with kickstand last year.  I wound up removing the frame, the kickstand and the cushion and carrying my Gobbler Lounger with the vest.

The vest is good and works exactly as advertised.  But for me, the seat cushion seemed to get hard after a long sit (longer than an hour I would say) so I brought the Lounger back out.

For those of you who use the lounger, do you remove the butt pad from your vest?  Seems to me that if you leave the butt pad on your vest so that you are sitting on your pad on the lounger then you are sitting up that much higher, which may or may not be a good thing.  I guess another option would be to remove your vest before sitting on the lounger.  Just curious as I am considering buying a lounger this year.

Tail Feathers, thanks for the reply.

slwayne, I remove the seat cushion from my vest

Anyone with the Alps vest? Is the material cotton like the Tactical Tator? Or the fade resistant material like the Duralite or Tenzing?

I remove the vest seat.
WV, the vest supports me well, and if a fellow is a true run and gunner it would be awesome.  But after 45 minutes to an hour, it begins to feel like a flat rock to my old "no padding" hiney.

I purchased about 5 vests last year to try and only kept the Cabelas Tactical Tatr 2.  One I tried was the Alps.  I liked the vest layout and pockets, but didn't like the kickstand.  When I sat down with kickstand out, it made the whole vest slide up on me, bunched around armpits and neck, even though it fit me right.  I could have just removed the kickstand and used it, but I liked the Tatr 2 better.  Never used a lounger so can't help you there.

I removed the seat that comes with my vest. Been using the Gobbler lounger for a couple of years now and I love it. MUCH more comfortable than sitting on your seat cushion. My tailbone would start killing me after a couple of hours while sitting on that dang seat cushion, the Lounge chair is awesome!!!

Ditto everything Maytom said. I also tried 2 of the kickstand vests last year including the ALPZ and the vest was fine, but the kickstand was not for me. I rather have my chair than 2 rods sticking in the ground behind me.

I remove my vest and sit it beside me so everything is accessible.. I also use a roll up blind that I sit behind that way I can sit for a long time if need be.

I leave the seat on my vest.  I use a Primos vest so the seat isn't that thick to begin with. I keep it folded up behind me and enjoy the extra cushion in the back of the seat and it also allows me to sit a bit more upright in the Gobbler Lounger.  I have found it very handy when the need arises to cut off a gobbler who is skirting my setup.  I leave the chair and decoys behind and still have the seat attached so I will have something to keep my butt dry and comfy for a short setup on the tom.  Best of both worlds in my opinion.
For the guys who won't take a chair because it is just that much more to carry in or whatever you don't know what you are missing.
