If you're referring to Goncalo Alves, also know as tigerwood; I just tried some. Didn't care for it at all. It has a ringing type sound, almost metallic. Tried it on numerous short boxes and long boxes. Just didn't work for me. May not be the same wood you're talking about, not sure. Guess I've got a lot of scratch box material now.
