This young bird came in strutting and gobbling his head off last Thursday morning. I had set up within a hundred yards on a bird that was gobbling on the roost. I let out a couple soft yelps and sat quietly waiting for him to fly down. Right at first light I hear wings flapping and branches breaking a bird lands ten yards behind me, I look around the tree and it was a bald eagle as soon as he saw me it flew, not sure what he was after. The gobbler came to about sixty or seventy yards where I couldn't see him and just sat there gobbling, after a couple calls and him not moving I sat there without calling scratching the leaves and trying to wait him out. Meanwhile while he was gobbling in front of me a bird had been gobbling back at him from across the property line and was slowly coming closer to my position. then out of know where he gobbles fifty yards behind me, I look over my shoulder and see him strutting through the trees once he got behind a big oak I swung completely around and shot him at a lazered 36 yards. the heavyweight sevens hit him so hard it knocked him off his feet. Hit way harder then 3.5 lead shot out of my 870 ever did. I know the bird is just a jake but I felt very blessed to able to harvest him and really enjoyed the hunt. The big gobbler is still eluding me but there is a lot of season left.

Congratulations! I've been really impressed with the 20 gauge and wonder why I ever lugged around the heavy 12.

Way to go and congrats on your first "yellow shell" bird.  Got my first last year with a yellow shell.

Congrats man. I'm still waiting for the opportunity to take my first. A Jake would be a blessing right now.

Congrats on the bird!
Got my first 20 gauge bird this spring too.  I bought this CVA for the grandkids and I like it so much I carry it when they aren't with me.
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

Got 2 of my birds with the 20 gauge also this year. What a gun. I still think why did i carry that 12 gauge so much..20 gauge for me that's for sure. Agree those federal HW bad to the bone on a turkey.
