Me and my Uncle got up to TN for the opener again and had a real good trip. Started out calling in four strutters to 25 yds on day one but we had some communication problems on who was shooting first and we messed around and let them get into the brush and all four got away. The next three days all we got was our tails whipped by a bunch of henned up birds but the week wasn't over yet. Wed morning I got up and went alone, ended up calling in three birds right off the roost and took a nice gobbler that turned out being my first three bearded bird. Well that got my uncle fired up and he was ready for one last round so we went at it again Thursday. Nothing wanted to cooperate right off the roost so we had made a couple moves and got set up on a gobbling bird over on the next property. I worked this bird for about an hour and he would not budge. I eventually went for broke and laid it to him with some aggressive cuts and yelps and he broke and headed our way. When we spotted him coming off the ridge at about 300 yards we realized there were two birds. They came straight in and we made up for that fumble on day one with a double, two nice three year old birds.
Now I'm back in Florida to continue the quest for my daughter's first bird..Good times !!!
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
