been awhile I flamed some osage  some ash in their also few crow calls and bottom left black cherry 3in brass over slate first one I have made and turned out pretty sweet sounding blood wood striker

I use the sand in a coffee can method, I like the way it evenly darkens up around the bottom sides of my calls. Do you put a torch to them?

yes just use a plumbers torch
