Several of my hunting buddies have contacted me and are asking for some clarification on Hunting turkeys on Sunday.  I have sent out a couple of E-mails to our local Wildlife Enforcement officers but haven't gotten a response.  Here is what is stated on page 41 of the Reg booklet in Manner of Taking, "Lawful seasons and bag limits for each species apply beginning with the first day of the listed season and continuing through the last day of the listed season, including Sundays for private lands."  The State just allowed hunting for deer on Sundays on private land starting October 1st 2015, with some time restrictions.  I don't plan on hunting Sundays even if I can but I sure don't want anyone to get a ticket if we are missing something.  Anyone have clarification on this issue?

I called the NCWRC central office in Raleigh and was told that yes Sunday hunting is allowed as described in page 41 for everything but migratory game birds. So I will probably be out there for an hour or two Sunday morning with my long johns on in the 20 degree temps.

You can hunt on Sunday on private land until 9:30 AM and after 2 PM.

^^  Correct ^^
Archery only between 9:30-12:30.
I hope to kill my 1st Sunday gobbler in NC this weekend. Ive shot a ton of deer in other states on a Sunday, never a turkey. Hope to change that.
BTW, only our screwed up game commission could adopt such a silly rule. Either make it all day or nothing....and do not forget about the minimum distances you must maintain from houses and churches !

[/quote]Bowbender, Since NC is considered part of the Bible Belt and this is the first year that this regulation has been changed to allow hunting, this is a way to appease people like me that consider Sunday as a Day of Worship to honor God.  In a couple of years, the 9:30 to 12:30 restriction will be removed altogether and they will eventually allow dog hunting as well.

Agreed. All or nothing and why just private land which is more likely to be near churchgoers.
