My son took his first bird with #6 high brass pheasant loads. 23 yard shot and it did fine.

My daughter killed her first at 6 yrs old with Remington 2.75" hi brass 6's at 19 steps.   Absolutely hammered him.  The distance will be the key to her success.  Best of luck to both of you  :funnyturkey:

My brother has some land with birds. We watched 6 toms and about 18 hens this morning. They come right by the blind set up by his shop. Getting birds close won't be an issue. Keeping her still may be the issue. The youth season starts in about 3 weeks. I will pick up some light dove loads and let her start shooting Coke cans for practice. She can handle light loads out of that gun. In fact, they are about 100 yards out his front window right now. I can't wait.

one of the low brass 7/8oz #7-1/2 loads is all she needs, will do the job out to 25-30 yds with no problem
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

I have some shells I would like opinions on. Both are 2.75" and 1 ounce. And shots limited to 25 yards.

My son shot his first with the express long range in #6 shot. With his gun he was good to 30 pattern wise. It worked just fine.
