Browning BPS and Vortex Venom
March 08, 2016, 12:28:24 PM
I just bought the Venom and now trying to mount it on my BPS. I have the Browning
mount that doesn't work for picatinny rail.
My question is, does anyone like Burris (because the FF3 and Venom share the same footprint)
sale a mount that would fit?
I don't want to, but may if I can't find a better way, just get a gun smith to drill another hole and
go the 336 way.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The Burris picatinny mount does fit on that scope mount but you may have to square off one of the slots with a file. As you may be able to see, Browning uses an odd size screw with that strange lock washer to attach it to the top of the receiver. So, if you do have the receiver tapped for the 336 mount you will probably have to have two new holes tapped since using an existing hole will require using the odd Browning screw and washer.

I just cut down a B-Square cantilever rib mount to long as I needed and didn't mess with the receiver on mine.

Yeah the browning bases really suck!.....I had to have one of my buddies mill out the back slot so the my ff3 with the picatinny mount would fit into the slot.

I dont know what Browning was thinking with the design. Seems like more work to mill out the base than it would to just make it a picatinny rail...
