What reading I have done, it seems most choke tubes are made out of the same steel. Some say lead only. some say no steel, but htl okay.
How many of us are shooting HS, HW, TSS, out of chokes the manufacturer says is not rated or too tight???   And have you had any problems?

I am one. Have shot HS from #6 to bb, tss #8 to 4mm, out of a factory flush full.  Have seen no ill effects.    :gobble:   :anim_25:

I've shot a bunch of hevi through chokes that say lead only, but most of the chokes are older than the HTL craze.  I personally feel they are fine with the smaller HTL buffered turkey loads and were labeled that way to keep people from shooting unbuffered steel through them.

Par for the course when I open my mouth I put my foor in it!!!!  Just got around to cleaning my gun for the upcoming season and the CHOKE IS SWOOLEN, not too bad, I could get it out by hand, but it will not slide in like it should. A new one does fine so the barrel is not hurt.
I knew this was possible when I first started using HS, but for the pattern increase I did it anyway. I think they still make new barrels.    :z-guntootsmiley:

What choke, what shells (brand/size shot). Put any steel or large hs thru it?

The first post covers most of it.  Have not shot any steel. Only hs-- rem. #6,#5.  EM #6, #4, #2.   Reload, HS bb,   tss #8, #5, #4, #1.  Out of a benelli 20 ga. flush full.
