First off I went back to where I heard that bird yesterday morning that responded to my calls and I got out of dodge. I eased to the back of the field and done a couple hoots on hooks hootn stick, still no response all season from it, still nothing. After it got light enough I started doing some light yelping, like what you typically hear from hens in the morning that are still on the roost. Still nothing so I step it up a little bit and finally got a response behind me to my left, where I came into the field before daylight, I kept after but he was a little reluctant to talk much. I started cuttn, yelpin and keekeeing to him and that seemed to bring him around. After he flew down he went straight the little field and gobbled his head off with a subdominant bird. Both of them would gobble sometimes together. They still wouldn't commit and come in so I backed out and made a big circle so I could get to the opposite end of the field that they were in, figured that they may come on down that way if I could get into position. I got to within 50 yards of making it to where I wanted to be and heard them coming down the field edge gobblin but I still hadn't responded to them since I moved. I got pinned down next to a pine about 8 feet tall and couldn't move, I saw them enter the woods about 70 yards away and then I had to call so that they would come my way. Remind you, I'm still standing in the little pine and nowhere to go, here they come gobbling and struttin. When they got into range the strutter saw me standing there and was fixing to leave but i changed his mind. I let the ole mossberg eat. Number two in the books. They ain't but one thing better than turkey hunting and that is more turkey hunting. :z-guntootsmiley:

It will close to two weeks before I can get back out there unless I take some time off from work. That is always a possibility. We maybe able to work something out turkeybow.
