Last year my old original Woodhaven Copperhead diaphragm call finally died.  I had retaped the call 4 years ago and figure that I got @ 11 years out of it.  During it's last years, like a lot of singers, it couldn't hit the high notes and didn't have the range that it had when it was young, but could still talk to and bring in gobblers.  I have no idea how many birds, gobblers and hens, that it conversed with, but during it's lifetime accounted for the harvest of at least 25 gobblers.  I found my "old friend" this weekend while playing w/ calls and have scheduled a suitable internment for the first day of turkey season this year on a hill where it talked to a lot of turkeys. RIP old friend.

Sorry for your loss. Times like these are often tough, saying goodbye to a trusted companion. You'll always have the memories, like that time you placed the call on your leg - and it slid off and fell into the leaves... you felt the panic set in as you frantically searched, but relief came when you saw it. It was a little dirty, but that didn't matter - you stuck it back in your mouth anyway!

Yeah, good times....

God speed in your search for another. Others may come and go, but some are just special.
