carbon strikers

Hello all, cant wait till April 12!! anyway I have a few carbon strikers that I cant hardly get a good sound out of. Whats the trick? I tried conditioning them with scotchbrite but doesn't work, any advise would be grateful.

a cue cube. its actually a pool accessory shaping an scuffing a pool cue tip. the shape side i pretty aggressive but the scuff side works nice. you can find them on amazon for a little as like $8.
