Has anybody seen many poults in the north east section of the state? I was planning on a fall hunt and didn't see anything on the web site about the hatch. Will be hunting public land too so I wanted to know if some habitat is better than others on public? I'll be using my .410 so I'll need to be hidden a little better. Thanks

I saw 2 hens with NO poults last week, has me kind of worried with all the rain we had this spring.

Have seen a few in the central part of the state im sure there is some in the northeast also. Good luck and happy hunting.

Saw 3 hens this morning with about half a dozen poults, so that was good news.

Ya, we've had a lot of rain again this year too but I hunt a piece of public here ,with good habitat, and the bird population is good year after year.

Thanks for the PM's too. I will be checking those spots out for sure. I'll also pattern my .410 to find out the best load and range. Can't wait.

Things are looking good for public land hunting. Saw lots of birds and found a flock of longbeards. Stopped in for lunch and talked with some locals that pointed me to em. Saw em Sunday afternoon. Looks like 6 longbeards in all. Think I will go in Sept. during archery season to get a early start hunting the longbeards. IL archery season doesn't start until Oct. and our fall gun season is only 9 days long.
