Went into my local Gander Mt. and saw this little beauty sitting on the used rack. I didnt really need another single shot 20 ga but i couldnt pass it up for $90. Its a H&R Topper Youth turkey gun with fixed full choke, straight stock, and 22"bbl.A nice little lightweight turkey gun with an overall length of 36" and it cant weigh more than 5 1/2 pounds. It is in really good shape,85%+,used but not abused. After some research, i found out it was made in '92.It must be somewhat rare because i couldnt even find a pic of a full camo 20 ga topper.Anyone know what camo pattern my gun is? I think its one of the original realtree patterns but im not sure.First task was to deep clean the barrel and head to the range. I took the very first shot with A FED HW #7. It ended up shooting 115 in the 10" @ 41yds.Not too bad for a factory full choke. Will definately try some HW #6s and send a few more #7s down range in the future to see what i can get for an overall average @ 40yds .Pattern was to the right but i definately flinched a little on the first shot. It also shot a very good hunting pattern @ 30yds w/3" Fed 1 5/16 #6s. All patterns after the first were dead on left to right, just a tad high, but not enough to worry about. Very pleased with this little gun i think it will be my daughters first turkey gun when she gets old enough. It would be a great canidate for a project 20 ga but i think im gonna keep it original.Plus i have a Baikal youth 20 ga project gun almost completed as it is. You can never have too many turkey guns :TooFunny:.

Nice, especially since H&R is no more, will be highly desirable in years to come, happy shootin'. I have the same basic gun in blued, one of my favorite 20's.

Nice find. Not any longer than a yardstick and will be an easy carry.  Good shooter, too. Gil

The camo pattern is Realtree Greenleaf which I think was Bill Jordon's second pattern.  I had a Mossberg 835 which was made in 1991 w/ the same pattern.

The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.
