IF this is not the correct place to post this please move.

One of my friends and call maker has been diagnosed with a serious illness. I am no call maker....yet, but I do have access to some pretty cool fabrication machinery.  I am helping plan a turkey call auction. I am a mechanical designer/sales engineer. I wanted to come up with something pretty cool and one of a kind for the auction since I cant donate a call. I decided on asking my company if they would allow me to get a custom fire ring done. I am still working at it but this is my current lay out. I wanted to have the fired ring to tell the story on a text book off the roost turkey hunt (although if this is Cambria County PA on opening day or a Saturday I need to put in hunters shooting the gobbler off the roost, or insert a guy sneaking in a cutting off the hunter) but any way here it is.

I wanted the story to tell itself as you walk around the fire. Gobbler on roost, gobbler flying down, gobbler walking in, gobbler hamering at a call, hunter waiting for shot, then the successful hunter walking out with the bird over the shoulder.

I will be fine tuning it and smoothing it out but I am pretty pumped with how it turned out so far. I may add in some turkey tracks but I am kind of digging the rustic look that is on there so far. It wil be 38" in diameter and be made from steel. Going to have it blasted then paint it with either grill paint or woodstove paint.

What do you guys think of it? You are looking at the flat pattern of the ring.

I wish I could make this as a side business, but the machine to cut the metal cost 200k. I might try and see if my company might let me get a quote on doing them, but it will take up an hour on our burn table. Not sure that we could swing that with how busy we are. They would be pretty expensive however but I could make them fully customizable. The successful hunter picture was an actual picture.

Love to hunt the King of Spring!

That's very well done and tells the story. Your friend is fortunate to have you looking out for him. I hope the auction does well.

Thanks,
Clark
