I am new here-- my first post. Just want to remind everyone to make sure you regularly sterilize your mouth calls. I developed an abscessed tooth this season. When I visited Dentist and he reviewed my record, he noted that I had an abscess at almost exactly the same time last year. He reminded me that bacteria is the primary cause of abscesses. I immediately thought of using my mouth calls the past 3 weeks ( and remembered that 1 of them had a bit of an odor to it). I'm 74 so my resistance may be down a bit-- but whether you use mouthwash, hydrogen peroxide, etc-- dipping them after every use is a good practice. No turkey worth a root canal-- well, there's maybe 1 on the farm that just might be, but I think he's as old as I am---and apparently smarter for the past 3 years.

Welcome! You ha a few years on me, but I've been around the block a few times too. Your advice is good and I hope folks pay heed. It reminds me though of my high school / college days. I was a sax player who didn't keep a real clean mouthpiece. That means it got kinda slimy and had matter growing on it and my reed. I think over the years, I built up an immunity to some kinds of crud. :begging:'

:wagon: Good call Larry! I give them a mouth wash rinse after use. Clean em up good after use and keep the reeds separated and freeze them in the off season.
