Mounting options for ff2

So I have all but ruled out the option of using a 336 mount on my sbe2 because I don't want to drill another hole into the receiver. when using one of those protective housing, does is sandwich between the sight and the weaver base adapter? If anyone has any experience with this i would appreciate a PM!
