Pay attention to any turkey sounds you hear. If you hear gobbles from the same area consistently, there has to be a reason the gobblers like hanging out there. Be looking for that area he likes to strut and see if you can find a place nearby there in range to set up. If a gobbler already likes to go there, it is easier to call him someplace he already wants to go.
I always seek out higher ground because turkeys use it to see, be seen, and to have their voices carry farther. Look along roadbeds and paths for signs of strutting. If he was there once, he may desire to go back again.
