Indian Creek ports???

Hello, all!

I picked up an Indian Creek Black Diamond Strike turkey choke.
Man, that's one looong choke.
It is my first ported choke and I noticed the Indian Creek is really ported.
My concern...because of the elongated porting, does the redirected gases cause a scorching or blemishing of the shotgun front sight (fiber-optic)?

You are correct on it being a very long choke!  I shot one last year on an SX3 with a white bead and it didn't affect it at all. My buddy was shooting one on his SBE2 and it never affected his fiber optic sight.  We all made the switch to RR chokes and haven't looked back!  IC is a really good choke though. We still have them, need to sell them on here! lol

Those long lines cut in the IC chokes aren't porting, they are wad strippers.  The design of the choke is to strip the wad from the shot as it exits the choke.  Check a wad after you have shot it and you will find that the strippers actually shred the flanges of the wad causing the wad to slow down as soon as it exits the choke allowing the shot to continue unobstucted.  The .675 IC choke is one of the best chokes you can use for the 835/935 Mossys with Hevi shot and Longbeards.

I loved the pattern that the IC gave me , but daggum that thing picked up more wood bark, debris, leaves, grass and anything it could. I nicknamed it the " Goat" seriously the thing was like a debarker.

Never noticed any problems with sight discoloration or anything like that.

Obviously, they wont fit in my choke case....what do you use to store them?....a fly rod tube?!

I usually wrap them in a paper towel and a strip of electrical tape.

Actually, many brands of turkey chokes are that same length now.  Indian Creek, Rhino, TruGlo SSX, Remington Ventilator, etc.

Also, there are choke tube cases that will accomodate the long choke tubes.  Try Academy for the cheapest price.  Or Bass Pro, etc.

Right on vanilla_killa. The rings on the inside are the wad strippers. 

STP22, I have not noticed any discoloration to my front sight bead. 

The knurling on that choke tube definitely grabs some vegetation.
