I just ordered these for my Rem 870. I see people put locktite on the screws but should I also put some between the base of the sight and the rib?

eddie234

That wouldn't work. Lok tight isn't a glue. And I would use the blue Lok tight.

I dont think I would glue the screws at all.
You never know if your POA/POI will change with different choke/shell combo's.
Im no gunsmith but it seem's that any type of glue/Loc-Tite product could make it tuff to change later. Some of those small parts are fragile.

Hunt in the rain with them one day and you'll never have to worry about them coming off. Ask me how I know this  ;D

But to your original question and as eddie234 stated, it won't work. Just use blue Loctite on the screws and don't screw them on using the Farmer Method and strip them out. You'll be fine.

I use just a dab of LT blue on the screws....

Thanks guys. I was going to put a little epoxy under them but that doesn't sound like a good idea. I will go the blue loctite route on the screws only.

Big Treble

I'd suggest green loctite usually called guntite not quite as tough as the blue, and works well on all smaller machine screw threads.

I use Loctite 222 ( purple) small screw tread locker on sights, scope mounts and anything with screws  smaller than 1/4".  They key is to clean/prime the screws and threaded holes to get good adhesion.
