Ants???

I posted the same question last year without luck...

We have some really aggressive red ants...  Not active as we set up in the dark, but start to get nasty as the sun comes up...  No way you can sit on a tree with these ants.

This year, I am going to take a bottle of ant spray, and pre-spray...  Not liking the idea of using an insectaside out there hunting though...

Anyone with any ideas of how to keep the ants off, or deter them, I would love to hear about it...
Did I do that?

Fly fishermen are born honest, but they get over it.

A gobbler lounger helps keep you off the ground. I noticed if you set up in a puddle that helps with avoiding them. Bottom line though, they can't be beat just avoided.

Any pyrethrin based spray will kill red ants very well. It is also very safe. I would not use anything with permethrin (or any other "ethrin besides pyrethrin) because if where you spray runs off to a water supply, it can cause a fish kill (very low likelihood though).

Big bottle of deep woods off. Spray it on the tree before you sit down. Ants will stay away from the spray.

That's true. I can't use high DEET.  It makes my heart race.
