What are yalls preferences when it comes to latex positioning in the frame? I have noticed some guys do not put the latex as far forward in the frame as possible and advertise that it makes the calls easier to control. Is there any truth to this?

thanks,

I place mine just far enough back it don't wrinkle when I press it.  Probably a good 1/32 or more.
Nothing like seeing a kids eyes light up upon hearing that first gobble.

I have not experimented with this concept enough to know whether setting the latex back a bit would affect the sound.  Interesting idea, though. I may experiment a little with that.
I agree with Sam that making sure not to push the frame so far against the latex that it ends up folding or "crinkling" the latex at the edges is an important consideration when building calls.
