Looking for a new Striker

I am looking to buy a new striker or 2 but I need a question answered first.  All of the strikers I currently have or have used have had what I will call a standard tip.  What is the difference in the flared tip?  Does it make the call easier to run or is it just for sound quality?

Flared tips are supposedly easier to run.  I personally prefer a straight tip; I feel it's more versatile.  Just my  :z-twocents:

I prefer straight tip as well. It seems as the mushroom tip is a whole lot more popular now days.

I like straight tip also.  I tried some flair tipped strikers and I personall thought they weren't any easier to run and I felt like it was a bit harder to pull out the front end on the yelps.

Thank you guys for the info.  Where would be some places to get a standard tip striker?  I don't really want anything fancy. The one I gave basically looks like a baseball bat and I am happy with its shape and weight.  The places I have looked so far were all flare tip strikers.

Harold Fowler, Steve Torman  (west Augusta here on OG), or Bill Lyman (callmakerman here on the forum)
