Where to begin for 20 gauge turkey gun?

Currently I have a 12 gauge benelli super nova that I use for turkey hunting.  Good gun.  Nothing wrong with it.

BUT....

I have this itch to buy me a dedicated 20 gauge for turkey hunting in the next couple of years.  I've looked over the forum at great length and also searched it for what I think I'd like (and what my bank account would like).

I know I want something with a thumbhole grip, pistol grip, or tactical stock on it.  Whether it's aftermarket that I put on, or comes already on it, I'm fine with either.

I'm also fine with buying a black synthetic gun and dipping it in bottomland and might actually prefer that.  Either way.

I like the 870 shurshot that I've seen online and would only have to dip the receiver and barrel in mossy oak obsession to match its stock and forearm being in camo.

My question, I've seen some great 20 gauge rigs on here in pictures...where should I start or what would you recommend that would not break the bank but would check on the boxes above?

870 20 ga all the way. Ive got one that was actually my first gun as a kid and it has laid many turkeys to rest. I shoot federal heavyweight #7s in it. Best 20 ga turkey load on the market.Ive had great luck with the rem super full lead only choke with those loads but i do have a sumtoy choke built for those loads on the way. Mine is drilled and tapped with a red dot on top. Shurshot stocks are very nice i plan on getting one @ some point. The shurshot stock in MO obsession your seeing online is for the 12 ga 870.The 20 ga only comes in black. I also have a little single shot baikal mp 18 20ga that im turning into the ultimate lightweight turkey slayer. I would also reccomend a single shot 20 from baikal or NEF. If money was not an issue id look no further than a benelli M2 20 ga.

I set up a youth model 870 for my daughter to shoot and you can see my results in the pattern section.  It is a 40 yard killer with the HW#7 and a Trulock choke.

The 20 g Shurshot stocks are gonna be pretty hard to find from my reading, because that was one of my options when I just started researching a 20 for me. One place online says they have them, but when you click on the link it says backordered. Most every other site I found says unavailable.  Someone on here recently found one though.

I had a similar list as you and wound up with a Weatherby SA-459, I picked it up Saturday. I liked the way if felt in my hands and it really does not need a bunch of mods.   I just ordered a Trulock for it and will post pattern pictures when I get done shooting. If it is too tight, I may also use a Carlsons for when I am hunting in the swamp for a little more open pattern. FL-Boss gives the gun very good reviews. 

I looked at the SA-20 Mossberg too.  I have never owned a Semi before, everything is either pump or O/U.

Not sure if I am going to like the peep sight, but I will shoot it plenty before opener to be sure I am comfortable with it.  If I don't like it, it should be easy enough to change.  I own a red dot, but really prefer open sight shooting.  It has a rail though if you are in to that.

I also held an Escort in my hand. 

But since I wanted a pistol or thumbhole, I figured to just get one already on the gun. Out the door for the gun and sling, with a 10% discount from BPS for getting a credit card would be less than $600. I was at 630 and I bought 2 boxes of Fed HW and one box of Mag Blend.  Since you are not ready to buy right now, after hunting it this season, I will give you an honest review after the season.

My 870 with ssx choke and fed 7 will put 180-200 in the 10 at 40 consistently.

I just picked up a 1187 20ga I plan to equip with a ssx fed 7's.
