Congrats to all who placed and competed. I am surprised I don't see Darrin Dawkins, Steve Mann, Albert Paul, SS Calls, Lamar Williams, Scott Basehore, Marlin Watkins, or Irving Whitt's names in any of the box call divisions. But I guess those guys don't compete. I wonder why?? Scott and Marlin must have "retired" from winning so much.

I have to say this ... there were so many great sounding calls this year sitting on those tables, everyone who took the time and effort to make a call for this prestigious contest should be proud and hold their heads up high. Winning is one thing, but passing on the talent and the legacy of the craft is another....it is important to have competition, if it is utilized as a tool of critique, and not criticism, I offer a huge congrats to the winners and to all who made the effort. Here is a quote from Mr. Kenny Morgan..." One of the worst things that can happen to a turkey hunter is to become overly anxious - to become so riveted on killing a particular gobbler that one loses the hunter's edge." This statement parallels the same thinking process in call making, if a call maker focuses on winning competitions only they soon forget the true nature of the talent, to convince that Ol' Tom to leave those hens and come to the caller.

Well put Pappy!!!!  I too would like to send out a huge congrats to everyone who took the time to enter, win or loose, you are all winners in my book.  Now lets put those beautiful calls to work in a couple of weeks, at least for you southern boys and girls anyway, I still have 2 1/2 months and it can't get here fast enough!!

Congrats to all who entered. There were many wonderful calls there. A special congrats to Jeff McKamey on a well deserved win. I don't believe anybody works harder to make a turkey killer, and is more willing to share his knowledge of callmaking with others. Congrats to everyone for another great convention.
