I found this November, 1964 issue of "Guns" magazine online and I thought I would share it with the other members here. Remember, this is before the Gun Control Act of 1968 and the guns advertised could be purchased through mail order at that time. Check the prices, unbelievable (a word I promised I would never use again).

Very interesting is a letter to the editor referencing an article by Col. Dave Harbour beginning on page 16 that I believe you who are familiar with the turkey writings of the Colonel will find interesting. This should lead to some interesting comments.

Ah yes,...Col. Dave.  Brings back fond memories of my early days of spring gobbler hunting back in the late sixties and seventies.  ....Couldn't wait for the issues of Sports Afield to arrive with Harbour's tales of duelling the wily gobblers of yore.  I didn't realize he wrote on other topics, as well.  ...I suppose I had tunnel vision.

As for the letter, I can see both sides of the issue as presented in the letter and the response by Harbour.  They both make valid points regarding GOOSE hunting.   Fortunately, I can't recall Dave ever advocating for taking long or risky shots at gobblers.  Had he done so, my opinion of him might have taken a nosedive.  As I recall, he was a fine advocate of ethical turkey hunting,...as well as a fine writer on the subject.

Geese, unlike ducks and turkeys, seem to lack personality.
