DIY Tennessee Turkey hunt

Hi all, I'm try to plan a trip this spring to Tennessee to get a few hunts in. I'm leaning towards trying Yanahli WMA in Maury county. Anyone have tips to or advice for this area? Thanks.

Yanahli gets some serious pressure, so be prepared to manage that. However Maury county has a lot of birds and I've saw several others on different forums have good success there.

As Saltbayou mentioned it's heavily pressured anytime I have been there.  Although I managed to scratch one out of there I moved onto greener pastures.  Weekends are crowded and sometimes even during the week.  I found my best days there when it was rainy wet weather as fewer hunters were afield.

I do not know if there are any WMA area in Giles County. That county as a bunch of turkeys in it. Last to I visited my sister I saw turkeys in almost every field. It was just north of Pulaski.

The area around Holston lake is nice!  Never hunted it but have been in the area a lot...I don't live far from there in VA...also some good fishing to be had to!

Hunted yahnali last year. Lots of birds and hunters. We hunted 3 days and heard about 10 birds I worked one with 60 yards and a road crew working on the county bridge spooked him. Lots of cedar thickets and hardwoods. I  live about a hour and a half away. I will probably make the trip again this year. Don't overlook the cherokke national forest in east Tn.

I tried Yanahli last spring way to much pressure ran into other hunters or had them come in on me 2-3 times day every day and I hunted weekdays next time I will do Cherokee way more land to get away from people

Went to yanahli last year and there was tons of people.  Ended up driving west to another wma and was much better!!

Try out Eagle Creek in Wayne County in southern Middle Tennessee. Very hilly ground and quite a bit of cutover but still has plenty of woods and birds once you learn your way around. Go in midweek after the first week of the season has passed and you can avoid most of the pressure.
I guide hunters on private property near this WMA and when I want to hunt, I let our property rest and go to Eagle Creek. I have had very good success there.
