port question...?

have a question about ported barrels.  I know that we say a choke with ports strip the wad away from the shot....can I ask why this doesn't happen with barrel ports ive been wondering this and in my obversation I always thought ported barrels shot a little better may just be me tho.   but you would have to think barrel ports would strip the wad to some degree....

They are much smaller and they are only on one side of the wad so the drag they would cause is minimal.  But the main reason they don't grab like choke ports is the bore of the barrel is not nearly as tight on the wad as the choke so the wad slips by the barrel ports with less resistance.
