What a great spring.  I was a little worried about our flock in NW Wisconsin due to the nasty winter, but the birds where I hunt had a lot of standing corn to eat all winter which helped them.  I had 3 tags for myself plus planned on calling for two buddies and my dad for a total of 6 tags.  I am happy to say we went 6 for 6.  I was able to shoot a 24.75 lb bird with and 11.5" beard and 1" spurs.  Hours later, I called in two birds for my buddy.  After a miss, I called them right back and he got one.  A week later, I shot the second one.  My dad got a nice bird with a 10" beard and 1" spurs.  The second buddy sat right where I told him and he scored on a 3 hour hunt.  My last hunt I shot a jake at noon.  I was going to pass him but after letting him walk the night before and family obligations, I pulled the trigger to end 2014.  So 5 gobblers and a jake later, I am already planning for next year.  My goals are to use my new Cabela's vest, hunt with my late father-in-laws gun, run a tube call, hunt on some farms back home, buy a few more call and enjoy every minute of my time in the woods.  The biggest thing I did this year was sit tight, enjoy my time and not worry about shooting a bird and focusing in on one or two birds and not running all over.  Also, thanks to Neal for all his help and encouragement and to the members of this forum for the help and passion of turkey hunting.  Here are some pictures of 4 of the 6 birds.  I did not get a picture of dad's bird on my phone and I was not with my buddy when he got his.

That is great, I heard that it was going to be quite the winter kill up that way...I have friends up north of Spooner and they were finding some dead birds!

They are pretty resilient aren't they.

Sure looks like you had a great season.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

They are very tough.  If we would have received an ice storm at the end of winter, it would have really pushed them over the top.  I know I would never make it that many days below zero.
