Want do you guys and gals think of this.I love the idea of the trijicon scopes having fiber optics that use sunlight to light them up instead of batteries ,I also like the idea of a red dot so you can set a brightness and also the zero/low kagnifacation aspect if it.So what I was thinking is making a scope with a length of fiber optic like a bow sight would use and also the small sidelight to turn it on in low light.make a aluminum housing for it to go in and also adjust the left-right and the up-down.So do you think I am crazy or should I start making some sort of a prototype?

To many good items on the market to make it worth your time.

And Trijicon uses tritium to illuminate its optics.

The reason why I think this would be a great idea is no more batteries. My worry is when shooting it being able to be lined up correctly.I know a red dot will float around but still be on target and a scope if your not lined up the sides will close in.Just thinking out loud is all

Reflex sights just work so well on a shotgun, it is a perfect match.  The battery thing really isn't an issue with a little common sense.  Most people could go two or three years without replacing a battery.  So common sense says to put a fresh $2 name brand battery in your sight at the start of each season and don't worry about it.  $2 per year is cheap insurance.  Put a spare battery in your vest, now your doubly insured.  Most of us spend $4 every time we pull the trigger.  So $4 per year on batteries is nothing.  These are lithium batteries.  Lithium batteries can sit on a shelf for 10 years and retain 90% of their charge capacity.  Just use name brand batteries from stores that turn their stock over often and a little common sense.

Well just because I am a dork that likes to prove himself wrong I think I will pursue this.I will post up in a few weeks what I come up with.I have a friend that makes high end bow sights that I may see if he can shed some light on the subject also.Stay tuned boys and girls
