Later season hunting

School and yard work have kept me from getting out. But I'm finally going out Saturday with a friend, we'll be going after birds that have never been hunted before. Since it is later in the season is there anything we should know? We may also have some decoys if he can get them from his brother, we will also be hunting heavier woods/brush.
