Its opening day of gobbler season here in Pa, and i got lucky 30 mins into the hunt! This is the first ive been able to go out after thunder chickens it 2 years. Picked up a new 870 last summer and had some issues with it and sent it back, after 3 months i recieved my new one!

I finally got it out last sunday to pattern, and sight the scope in i put on it. I picked up a ventilator choke tube from another member here and paterned it with win 3" #6 lead, and it shoots amazing long distance patterns.

The irony of it all is this- super tight choke for those long shots, 1.5-4.5 swift shotgun scope to help with those long shots, ended up bustin my gobbler at 6yds outta my blind window!!! Just had to snicker a bit after the shot. What a great morning.

Congrats and I bet it felt good to get out. Good thing you had a tight choke in for that long shot. I screwed my regular full in last night just for close up timber hunting.

Yep, 10guagemag, it felt great to get out. I hunt just about everything thats legal here in pa, but gobbler hunting has always been my favorite.

My daughter was supposed to go with me but she woke up sick and coughing badly, she made the choice to stay home, i left it up to her, hopefully she gets back on her feet in a few days so we can enjoy the spring woods together. Shees a petite 11 year old that has a hard time with recoil so i outfitted a crossbow for her to use, it would have worked excellent his morning for her.

There seems to be a good number of birds where we hunt and it seems most of the hens mite be sitting now so hopefully i can get her on another good bird.

I hope the hens here in Mo. are starting to sit too. We will see tomorrow.
