Had an 80 degree day today so I went out and shot my Rem 870 21" bbl/ Kicks .655.  Patterns were what I used to hunt with and now I am going to finish out the season with them.

182 in a 12" @ 40yds     Kicks .655   Win  XX 3/2/6's

161 in a 12" @ 40yds     Kicks .655   Win  Super X   3/ 1 7/8/ 6's

*Both shells were 120's in a 10" at 40yds but the 12" is what impressed me.  30yd patterns were devastating.   20yds the entire pattern is in a 10" with the exception of a few pellets.

*This gun is what I have harvested the majority of my turkeys with over the years but I used to run a Hastings .665 non ported.

Great patterns

Thanks, have you run any of the Turkey Thugs 3" 5's through your short barrel Rem 870/ Kicks .660?

Yes I have, I think it topped out at 81 in the 10", lol.

It's a fussy little sucker.

Funny how some guns are..I have my Kicks .660 in a 28" bbl and the 3" HV 5's is the only shell I have found that it likes. Shot allot of 6's through it and even hevi 6's and hevi 7's with not much to write home about. My 21" bbl/ kicks .655  will shoot any of the 3" Win Pb 6's and turn around 220 with Hevi 7's. Some seem to be more finicky than others.

Mine likes Win shells, it has turned in the best lead patterns with the HV 4's, 5's and 6's when compared to other lead brands.  It will run over 100 with HV 5's and 6's, over 180 with the 3" LBXR 6's and 210-220 with the H13 #7s when using the Kicks .660.  It's wicked bad with the Nitro H378 4x5x7 hevi, but it does not impress with the H13 3-2-6 running in the 140's.  It does throw an even 20" pattern with most shells which is what I mainly look at.  Even with the LBXR my last shot was 184 - 10" and 353 - 20", hard to escape that.

I would like to try a Kicks .675-.680 with HV 4's just to say I tried it.
