I just signed in and posted on the new member page. I need some advice and have a question or two. I have a blind set up in the hedge row between two fields where I have seen a lot of turkeys. This past Saturday, a week before the season opens, I went out 45 mins. before sunrise and scouted my set up. After settling in I made a few yelp calls, waiting about 5 minutes and hit the calls again. I heard a gobbler call out and I waited a while then yelped back. This went on for about 5-10 mins and I heard the Tom had move closer. I then hear another Tom gobble in the distance behind me a ways away. Both birds were getting closer, when the first bird I heard walked about 50 yards in front of my blind and started strutting. Several hens had flown down and were scattered about. The Tom then started towards the other Tom I had heard and they went to fighting like crazy, it sounded like two plastic trash can lids being beat together. They kept at it and were about 120 yards away from me before they wandered into the woods still fighting. Any advice on how to get either Tom to move closer into my range, I called when the first Tom was close, he looked up at me, then kept on his collision course with his rival. I never did see either Tom engage with any of the hens. I am going back opening day and hope I can get the bird in range.
