I saw this on another forum and wondered if anyone here had an opinion....

Do you think this will work like Sawyer's Permethrin?

I bought a 1.33 gallon jug of Revenge Horse & Stable Fly Spray RTU, for $30. The container has a pump with a hose an spray nozzle for easy application. It's already at the .5% mixture needed for killing ticks, so no mixing needed and is water based.

Horse and Garden insecticides is not approved for human use, what is wrong with you people, Don't you read the label "It is a Violation of Federal Law to use the product not consistent with the Labeling ".  Therefore you are using it not according to the label.  That is on the Label of every Insecticide.  I would hope they would start enforcing that as I don't think it is good to promote this sort of activity.  If they do, all they will have to do is look at these forums and find the ones that are confessing to using and promoting these products in an illegal manner.  The only products that I know of that is safe for humans if they follow the label instructions is sawyers and permanone.  The only way you are going to find out if it is safe is to use it, no one can tell you that.  Years from now you may regret it and you can tell others about your experience.  I am sure we will hear from permethrin users that mix their own juice,  that have used it for "years" with no complication.  Does anyone know how many years it takes to tell if it is safe or not,  That is my opinion, now I will wait for the wolf pack to pounce.  Read the Label, that is all the information you need.
    I would like to add one more thing to this post, before the pack gets here.  Turkey hunters spend a lot of money on guns, and then some spend a lot more to have them modified to be a killing machine.  Then there is the shells, some spend up to 40 dollars a box, then take into consideration all the gear, decoys, traveling, scouting, etc.  It all cost money, someone tell me why you won't spend the money for safe approved for human use tick sprays.  Don't tell me you are broke and can't afford it, or it is cheaper to mix your own.  You do everything to try to be safe and then do the most unsafe thing you can find, mixed tick juice from farm and garden sprays.  If you can't afford a bottle of sawyers or a can of permanone you don't need to be turkey hunting, you can't afford it.  Just my opinion.  Bring it on, I don't want to be converted, so I am out of here.

I'm sure it would work, but I grew up on a cattle farm in Missouri and been around enough livestock products to know that I would not spray that on myself or my clothing.  Good luck with it . . . .

They recommend wearing rubber gloves when applying it, so not really a good idea to apply to clothing.

And you can't but it in TX! If it was CA, no big deal, but in freedom loving TX, yikes!

Why would they suggest that you could put it on something that you sleep on every day, but then say it shouldn't be used on hunting clothes?

If it is in your label instructions on the back of your product in methods to mix and use on your clothes you can do it.

If it is in your label instructions on the back of your product in methods to mix and use on your clothes you can do it.

If you want to mix your own, I would suggest you use this:  http://www.amazon.com/DurationTM-Permethrin-10-Concentrate/dp/B001MA7KPU

It is the only EPA registered concentrate for consumer use. I use it as both a spray and a clothing soak.

Contrary to popular belief, this product is intended to be used on human cloths and does work. Since I started using this I have not found a tick on me after many hours in the timber turkey & mushroom hunting. My buddy on the other hand almost always finds several on him after our turkey & mushroom hunts.

On a side note, Permethrin, especially in the liquid form, is poisionous and often fatal to cats. If you have cats, use precautions when using it.
