I was wondering if anyone has used exotic woods with a cob top?

Thinking of picking up some different woods to try. I've only ever used hickory in the past.

I've used red cedar and it sounds ok.

I've only used cedar as well and really liked it. Drill a 5/16 hole in the corn cob and insert and striker dowel that you like and then slide the dowel in and out till you find the sound your looking for. I never did glue mine in as it had a great friction fit so it didn't move.
