I just bought a Winchester SXP Turkey and bought a Kicks Gobblin Thunder choke for it. I was thinking of trying Hevi-13 #6. Can I shoot the Hevi-13 through this choke?

budtripp

They say not to but I have with no problems

My son does with good results.

Are you not supposed to?

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Kick's web site says no hevishot through their chokes. Guess if you have problems down the road with patterning, they won't replace the choke tube?

I just ordered the Hevi-13 choke from Cabelas. On sale for $40! I'll see how it does...

I've used Kick's chokes for over 30 years and shot Hevi-Shot thru them since it has been available.  Kick's chokes are made from stainless steel so I'm not afraid to shoot any load thru them and they throw an awesome pattern.  The owner of Kick's, Charlie Boswell,  has been in cahoots with Winchester Ammunition for years, thus his recommendation to not shoot Hevi-Shot thru his chokes.  So get you a Kick's .670 and have at it.   :OGturkeyhead:

I have shot a ton of Hevi shot through my Kicks with great results.

It's funny that you can shoot Nitro hevishot but no Hevishot's hevishot according to the people at Kicks.

As stated Kicks will tell you no, but, their reasons is not one that makes sense.  PM me if you want the answer as don't want to bash anyone publicly.

With that said, I do have a kicks and it patterns great with Hevi13 3" #6's.  I generally shoot a Hevi Shot turkey choke and it patterns insanely good.

COssman14

I know a lot of people do with good results.

Why shoot a 3.5"? Because they don't make a 4".

make sure to post pics of your patterns with both on the patterning forum...would be great to see more Invector Plus barrel info.  Good luck...heard good things about those Hevi Shot chokes as well.
shoot first, measure spurs later

this is the choke in my 870 and this choke and the 3" 2oz hevi #6's are a match made in heaven.

I have Kicks chokes in both my turkey guns. I also shoot Hevi thru them. I get 210 hits@40 with #6 3in. and 250 plus with Magblend 3 in. using a Winchester SX3. They are great chokes.
What diameter choke did you get? I am shooting a .675 in mine. I have a .670 if you need to try that diameter.

mossyhorn9

The Kicks choke is 680 and the Hevi choke is 664. Haven't had a chance to try them out yet but I'll let you know how it goes when I do.
