God was definitely watching over me Wednesday. I was operating the bulldozer fixing up some areas on our land where we had done some prescribed burning. I was focusing on the right hand side of the blade and its level to the road, and WHACK!! Right in the eye. Felt as if my eyeball had popped!!
I immediately started praying and holding my hand over my eye, and at the same time engaging the clutch and knocking the dozer out of gear with the other hand. Sitting there with the dozer running, me praying not to be blind, and my hand over the eye notices what feels like a big stick coming out of my eye.
I never saw the stick as I pulled it out. It was fortunately stuck in the corner of my eye closest to my nose. I'm sure it was about the diameter of a toothpick, as the gouge out of the Sclera (white part of the eye) was about the same c-shaped channel, and it stopped right before the Cornea (colored part). Thank You Lord!! But it felt like a tree branch was in there!!
Long story short, I can see, and no permanent loss.
Thank You Lord!!
Which in turn, makes me think now, of the scripture of: Matthew 7:3-5(NIV)
3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
Are we quick to judge others, maybe our spouses, friends, bosses, kids, coworkers? We need to look at ourselves first, and make sure the things we are griping about, are not present in our own lives. When we truly search ourselves, we often find we have the same faults, and even bigger branches in our own eyes.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for keeping me safe and allowing me to retain my vision.
Forgive us of my looking at others, and judging, rather than being focused on ourselves, and the things we need to change. Help us to love others first for who they are, and not for what they do, or don't do. May we be open to what needs to be changed first among ourselves, to be Holy to You. Remove the hindrance of branches, and let us see clearly.
Guide us with the Holy Spirit, to where we are able to perform Your will for each of us, to bring You glory and honor.
For it is in the name of Jesus, our Protector and Provider, we ask and claim these things, Amen!!
God Bless,
David B.
