im fairly new to turkey hunting and was wondering what everyone uses for an all weather striker...i tried the hs polymer tipped one but it leaves a black residue on my call and i can't finish a sequence without having to stop and recondition the damn thing.....i know there are a lot of different materials used out there and was wondering what everyone used and what are the pros and cons of each material....mostly will be using it on crystal and slate surfaces...thanks in advance guys.

Dymondwood, it's a specific laminate, and Wendell Rye of Lights' Out calls or Gary Joffrion of Magnolia Game Calls builds some nice ones.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Green Spur Waterproof striker by www.1upgamecalls.com

Is totally waterproof. Wet or dry this striker will work on any friction call surface. Any type of moisture of any kind cannot stop it from working no matter what and we guarantee it.

cool....what type of tip do u guys use on that striker?

Russell Beard makes a waterproof striker that sounds really good on a lot of calls. It's fiberglass or some type of synthetic with heat shrink tubing around the shaft. The next best thing would be a Woods Wise mystic wet stick. It plays pretty good on most surfaces.

I think the carbon striker Mike yingling is hands down the best. Little different than my dymondwood striker on slate but sounds the same on glass, ceramic, copper, aluminum, and titanium.

houagie,
The Green Spur is something I made while playing around. I guarantee it will work or your money back... period. I've tested it many times in developing it and it will play any friction call under water.
