How close have you missed one?

I'll start off with 3 steps...in front of a buddy

I missed one in Green Swamp Florida about 30 years ago that was probably inside of 10 feet.   Still bugs me to this day.  I go back every ten years or so just to kill one of his relatives.

15-17 yards. Young and dumb and impatient. Still kicking myself for not allowing that bird to keep walking until he hit 20-25 yards......

I have never missed a close bird although I deserve to have a few times.  I am ashamed to say in my early years I took a poke at three different birds that were too far before I learned what a shotgun could and could not do.  Bothers me to this day.  Never found blood or birds but pellets had to have hit them.

I missed a nice bird at 8 steps on a fall hunt.

Hate to say it but I missed one at 5yds because I tried to just clip the top of his skull cap off. He re-appeared there in full strut and I had plans to have him mounted. I didn't want to mess him up. It worked flawlessly! May have affected his hearing but other than that it didn't mess him up at all.

6 Steps.  Was laying on my stomach at a field edge.  I had 3 hens I could have reached out and touched.  Worked perfect and the gobbler strutted right up to me.  I should have lowered my aim and shot him high in the chest, but cleanly missed instead.

About 15 ft. I had a set of sights on my 870 and when I pulled the trigger he just run off , I sat there dumbfounded for a few seconds ,Couldn't figure how that happened then noticed my front sight blade was loose and slid nearly off my gun.

I missed one at about 12 yards due to miscommunication in a double attempt. Flat missed with the first shot, rolled him with number 2, and made myself feel better with the third shot. I watched him take wing and crash over 500 yards away across a field.

Other than that, I wiffed one between 25 and 30 yards away several years ago, still not sure what happened.

I missed one last fall at about 12yds while he was running through a field....my buddy had just shot the turkey's friend about 75yd away in the same field. I missed him again at about 15yd while he was flying and dropped him out of the air at about 25yd with the 3rd shot.
