Pattern question

Got an 870 youth model with a 21" barrel. I am shooting a Tru-glo Gobble Stopper Extreme with Federal #7 Hvy Weight.

New to playing around with trying to really dial in a pattern - Here are my 30 and 40 yard targets. On the 40 I count 79 in the square with 51 just outside.

I notice some people circle 10" that is not centered to the point of aim. I want all of my pellets centered where I am shooting - what good does having x amount of pellets in a 10" circle when they aren't where you are shooting?

I  talked to SumToy and I plan to shoot at a larger target to see if my point of aim is off.

Any suggestions on why my #'s are so low? Sounds like others are getting a lot higher # than what I am getting. Also any one know how many pellets are in a 3" Federal Heavy Weight?

You need to know where the densest part of your pattern is so that you can make adjustments to bring the densest part to the point where you are aiming. This can be done using a scope, adjustable iron sights, bending the barrel, or the cheapest method, Kentucky Windage.

The choke/ shell combo may not be compatible. I have seen that very combo shoot #5 lead that well at 30.
A #6 or #7 Hevi 13 may do better or it may take a Rem Super Full choke, Carlson or Trulock 570-575 ,etc. and of course the Truglo SSX 550 if you are not into custom chokes.

Since you are talking to William at Sumtoy he can get you exactly where you want to be and work with you. The extra time spent with him will be worth the money as well to get a super choke that will be there as long as the gun itself. If you aren't happy he wants to make you as satisfied as possible.

I have the same gun/same choke, the .565 GSX doesn't really like the wad of the Federal flight control shells, the choke is ported.mine will shoot pre FC shells very well
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

I have never had the gobble stopper line of chokes work well in any gun when I'm using Federal Flight Control wad loads.  The SSX series of chokes are a whole diferent story though, as are the Carlson's non-ported .575 and the Primos Tightwad chokes.  For some reason the GSX chokes just don't hold a candle to about every other choke out there.  You probably don't want to hear that but it is unfortunately the truth.
