Just a heads up,

>Bass Pro has the 20 gauge Remington 870 Compact shotguns with wooden stocks on sale online now. I called the local Bass Pro and they will honor the sale price at their store.

> Midway has the black synthetic 20 gauge Remington ShurShot stocks in stock. I ordered one this morning and just got the ship notice.

I just talked to midway... they are out of stock on the 870 20ga shurshot. Did you have your stock backordered? And are you sure you ordered the 20 ga model, remington #19533?

They were out of stock yesterday and I requested an email when they got some in. I received the email this morning and immediately ordered it.

Their description said 20 gauge Part # 19533.

Ok good deal @ least you got one out of them. I just signed up for an email notification so hopefully they will get more in soon. Let me know when you get your stock and whether or not the stock set comes with a new stock bolt.

I just got the new stock in and got it installed. Everything went together really easy and the stock bolt/washers WAS included.

I'm not sure if I'm going to like it though. First impressions of it seems to feel funny when shouldering and sighting. I'm not using any optics and getting down on the bead just feels different, kinda like I have to position my head and cheek on the stock in a way that I'm not used to.

I'll probably shoot it some this week to get a better feel for it and see if I can get used to it.

Ok nice it comes with the stock bolt.Thanks. Yea those stocks on have a high comb to them basically made for a scope or red dot.You might want to try williams firesights they sit higher off the rib of your gun.Let me know if you decide to part with the stock.

After I posted earlier I remembered I had a Universal Fire Sight in my safe. I mounted the sight and shot a few rounds through the gun. Adding taller sights really helped the way it feels.  I deer and coyote hunt with my AR-15 and the new Shur Shot stock handles a lot like the AR does so, that's good.

At 40 yards the center of the shot pattern is impacting 6" too high and I've run out of adjustment on the rear sight. I guess I'll call Williams to see if they make a taller front sight or a shorter rear sight.

Got any ideas?

I dont think williams is gonna have anything but it cant hurt to try.You probably need a shorter front sight.Only thing i can think is to try the truglo pro series adjustable sights which i think has a shorter front sight. Id drill and tap it and put a red dot on it.Thats how i have my 870 20 set up.The many advantages of a red dot or low power scope outweigh the few disadvantages they have ,IMO.

Thanks for your input but to lower the POI either the rear sight will have to be lowered, which has run out of adjustment, or the front sight will have to be taller.

One thing I'm going to try first is to move the rear sight toward the muzzle of the the gun and see if it will bring the POI down any.

Update-

I called Williams this morning and found out that they offer a couple different rear blade heights. My sight has the .250" tall rear blade and they also offer a .1875" (5/16")  tall blade. They are sending me the shorter .1875" blade to try at N/C.
Great customer service!
