my wifes got a little cz 20 guage....she's decided she want to kill a gobbler, but I hate to spend the coin to buy a turkey choke for this little gun and I just don't know how this little woman would get along with a 12 gauge.....any of you guys know which shell would provide a resonably dense pattern with a factory full? We will try to limit her shots to around 30-35 yards anyway

Deputy 14

Federal Heavyweight 7s. Should shoot fine with your factory full.

I have a m2 benelli 20 that patterns good eneough to kill at 40 with the factory full with magblends or federal heavy weight 7s. But i run a turkey tube just to make it better. You can buy some good shooting tubes for $25 the carlsons non ported chokes perform as good as any in my guns. The primos tightwad is another. Good luck buddy

the flight control wad in the Federal HW shells performs very well in full choke tubes
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

Federal HWT 7 and let her kill him.  I would try it at 40 to see.  Like I ask How Dead is Dead :anim_25:

The Federal HW loads will flat out get it done.  If you don't want to spend that kinda money on shells, most all the lead loads will too at that distance.  I killed loads of birds from age 8-12 with a little 20 guage Remington 870 Wingmaster shooting 2.75" Nitro Magnum #4's.
Just make sure whatever you decide on, the patterning board is the main test that should help you get there.

Good suggestions and I'd add that the Hevi-13 in either #6 shot or #7 shot will do the job very well at those ranges.

As has been said, you need to spend some time at the range just to see what kinds of patterns you get at different distances.

Good luck to both of you this spring.

Thanks,
