good post OG

Each load has it's own pluses and minuses.
We all seem to find what we like?   Well sooner or later.

I've always been curious as to why "everyone" is so hung up on having 2 1/4 oz of shot in a shell? I guess if you're hung up on numbers, that would be an issue.

I'm perfectly satisfied with the FCW and the current payload in the HW loads, they hammer birds!

No different in racing in why they keep making cars faster and why everybody wants a fast car now don't you reckon?  A dragster from the 80's is a VW against todays dragsters.

Well In 12ga I would pick the HV13 and 20ga I would take the Federal.
Tell us just how dead do you want them to be and we will see if we can get that for you.

And if Hevi-13 would make a 1.5oz #7 20GA load like Federal does, then most would likely pick the Hevi-13 I would bet.

Longshanks

Tested with allot of different gun/choke combos with the hevi 7's and fed HW 7's. These were my results:

204 in a 10 @ 40  Fed 7's

333 in a 10 @ 40. Hevi 7's

184 in a 10 @ 40  Fed 7's (20 guage)

The 130+ shot in a 10 @ 40 made the 12g Hevi 7's a must hunt load out of Beretta Xtrema and the Fed 7's were a must hunt load out of my Beretta 20 guage. Both of these guns have the hevi 13 chokes.

Thanks guys I have some of the fed for the 20 but looks like im gonna try both in my 12s. The velocity of the hevi 13 kinda has me worried as they are not very heavy. I wish hevi would step up their velocity.

Nothing wrong with the velocity of the hevi. They kill with no problem. If it concerns you then use something else but many of gobblers have died and will do of hevi with no issues.

+2.....it's been tested a lot my many of us... the Fed HW, #7, 1.5oz is hard to beat in a 20ga. On the other hand.. I would only shoot HEVI 13, #7 in a 12ga

Both shells work but I like the consistency of the Hevi-13 shells much better.

Thanks,

Lucky Clucker

I shoot both in 2 different guns, my SX-2 loves the hevi, 7 shot in 3 in. with a .670 Jelly head, and the single shot New England 3.5  with a full choke loves the fed, 7 shot, I am partial to the Federals with the 1300 fps, faster hits harder ,the hevi 7 ,s shoot a tighter pattern, but the feds kill just as good or better, some  were beyond the 40 yd. mark and were stone cold dead at the shot. I will take them both any time.
Hunt every day as if it were your last.

Spurcollecta

I'd take Fed HW 7's any day of the week over H13
