Safety Question

My Truglo SSX that I put in my 935 less than a month ago has apperantly swelled in the barrel or seased up one. I can't get it off by hand and it was only hand tightened. Is this safe to shoot? I've put 20-25 shells through it since I put the choke in

I would not use it..  .chokes should screw in and out easily.

Your only going to worsen the situation.  Did you grease the threads befor installing it?  Has the gun gotten wet since you installed it?  Can you thread a bar thru the ports and use it for leverage?  Fact is it needs to come out and be discarded before it swells and ruins the barrel also, assuming it hasn't already.  I would suggest submerging the barrel muzzle in penetrating oil past the threads if it isnt a camo gun.  if it is, get an oil squirt can and try to squirt the penetrating oil inside the barrel at the thread/choke junction.

Choke was straight out the package into the gun. I was just able to remove it with some pliers. After breaking loose it wasn't unscrewing as easy as I feel it should.  I tried the factory turkey choke and it was easy on and easy off. Retried the ssx and it didn't want to go in easy so I backed it out

Can you see a bulge or swelling in the side of the choke?  I just sent one back for replacement that had swelled at a point about 3/4" from the end of the choke that goes into the barrel.  It would still come out of the barrel with just my hands though. I probably had 10-12 shots through it.

I took it out and test fired 3 rounds through it after putting it back in and it comes off by hand again. It wasn't the smoothest choke out the package going in anyway but I've heard others say the same thing.

I didn't see any problems looking at it. Threads were a little gritty but not any worse than others I've seen

When you unscrew it 3/4 of the turn is smooth but the same spot every rotation has that tight feel

Maybe it was just seized.  Maybe there was some moisture in the barrel and it corroded a bit.  I would clean the threads of both well and get you some Birchwood Casey or Outers choke tube lube and always use it on the threads of choke tubes.  I believe in never threading in a tube dry.

Mine was swelled all the way around about 3/4" from the end. You could see it and also the blue came off of that part because it would rub against the threads as it comes out of the barrel.

Yep. I always lube my chokes before inserting them....

Contacted tru glo today. Tech told me it sounded like a minor thread problem but if I wanted I could send it in and they would send me a new one. I shot it today and man it's a shooter. I'm gonna get a professional opinion from my gun smith tomorrow and go from there
